Fake Cards

Latest Article: Trading Card Captors

By Susan B. Koopa

One day Susan is bored, so she decides to take a walk around the castle. She wanders past the library. Hoping to find something good to read, she goes in. She browses up and down the stacks, but doesn't see anything interesting, until...

Susan: Hey, what's that?

A thick red book catches her eye. On the spine of the book, in gold block letters, is printed "THE JAY".

Susan: Hmm...

Susan takes the book off the shelf and turns it over in her hands. On the front is a picture of a woman, with three long spikes of red hair, clothed in a skimpy dress that appears to be made of leaves. Suddenly, the latch of the book springs open.

Susan: Cool!

She opens the book. There are no pages inside, only a hollowed-out space with a stack of something in it.

Susan: They're cards...

She picks up the top card and turns it over.

Susan (reading the card) Princess Zelda...

She turns and starts to leave the library, carrying the book.

Susan (thoughtfully) Zelda...

Suddenly, Zelda appears in the middle of the room. She grabs all the cards from the book and throws them out the window, then disappears.

Susan: Aah!

She drops the book, and it lands on the floor with both covers facing up. A weird ball of light comes up out of the front cover.

Ball of Light: Hi! I'm Navi the fairy, you can call me Navi. Thanks for letting me out of that book, you freakish turtle thing. I've been trapped in there for minutes!

Susan: ...

Navi: Yeah, I'm watching over my deck of cards, see, they're right-Aah! What happened to my cards?!

Susan: Um...they got away...

Navi: All of them?!

Susan: Well, I have this one.

She gives Navi the Zelda card.

Navi: That's it?

Susan: Um...

Navi: *growl*

LATER...

Navi: See, these cards were made by this guy called Jay Thecaptor. And, um, I'm using them. You have to get them back. Oh, what's your name anyway?

Susan: Susan. What do I do?

Navi: Well, you'll need this, loser. Deku Nut! You have chosen this...thing, Susan, to carry out the, um, "sacred promise". Teach her some stupid little poems! RELEASE!

A glowing Deku Nut comes out of the keyhole of the Jay Book and floats into the middle of the room. It explodes and turns into a Deku Stick.

Navi: Susan! Take the Deku Stick!

Susan grabs the Deku Stick and twirls it around.

Susan: Yeah!

Just then, Navi and Susan hear footsteps outside. They rush to the window.

Susan: What's that?

Navi: That's Link, you idiot.

Susan: Yeah! I'm going to capture him!

Susan jumps out the window and falls headfirst into a bush.

Susan: Cool!

She gets up and runs out into the street in front of Link.

Susan: Um, what now?

Navi: Use the Zelda card!

Susan: Right! Deku Nut, item I can equip to C, turn into the Stick, and do stuff for me! RELEASE!

The Deku Nut turns into the Deku Stick again, and Susan grabs it and twirls it around again. She really does look stupid.

Susan: Zelda card, come out and do something!

She whacks the Zelda card with the Deku Stick. Zelda appears and slaps Link. He looks surprised.

Susan: Link, return to your trading card!

She bashes Link over the head with the Deku Stick. He passes out, then turns into a card, which floats into Susan's hand.

Susan: Yeah! I caught Link!

She spins around and gives the victory sign.

Navi: Um...wrong show...

Susan hits Navi with the Deku Stick, and the fairy is squashed into oblivion.

Susan: Yeah!

DEKU TREE

By: Susan B. Koopa

Now this is a must for any speed deck. Play Deku Tree on your first turn, give him LLL right away, and you're set. I doubt any enemy forward will survive the first Wise Words attack. And if they do, just use it again. You could really have trouble with a slow SMAAASH deck, but anything else should be a piece of cake.

Recommended Deck List
1 Deku Tree
3 L Energy
56 C Energy

As an added bonus, they're all Common cards! You can't lose!
